This is Ralph's 46th book and his 2nd novel.

This book is about a boy, Cliff Paxton, whose family was attacked by Apache. Cliff is wounded and his father, mother and sister were brutally killed.

After Cliff buries his family, he has no desire to remain where the family was about to settle and has no relatives.

Cliff becomes a drifter, moving from one place to another. He meets many interesting people and experiences many new adventures before finally settling down.
