50 Guidelines for Winning Chess Games

[This book may be purchased as a Kindle book through Amazon or on paperback through Amazon or Create Space.]

At the beginning of Ralph's last year of coaching Chess several of the coaches in his state asked him to write a book detailing the coaching techniques that had made his teams so successful for so many years.

Those techniques/guidelines are what are contained in this book.

Ralph uses the format of Solitaire Chess to teach these techniques.  The “50 Guidelines” are listed and explained in the beginning of the book.  Then there are games from the players he coached to use as examples.  The reader is to play through the game without comments to try to figure out themselves which guidelines were not followed and then they turn the page and the same game is listed again only this time with references to the “Guidelines” and other analysis.

All of the games listed are games that his players lost.  At the first practice after a tournament each player would be required to enter a game they lost into Ralph's computer using Chessbase®.  Afterwards he would analyze those games. Ralph would then replay the games on his computer using a projector with the team pointing out the mistakes that were made, but without letting anyone know whose game it was. Ralph would then teach what to do against particular openings or in certain positions that were in those games.  The games in this book are from those games; however, the names of his players who lost the games have been deleted just as they were for practices.
