Insights to the books by Ralph E. Bowman

A Beginner’s Guide for Learning Chess

[This book may only be purchased as a Kindle book through Amazon or paperback on Amazon or Create Space.]

After the first two Chess books, then some coaches in his state asked Ralph to write another book to teach someone who does not even know how the pieces move to play Chess.

In addition to how to move the pieces and some strategy, Ralph also put a lot of general information about the United States Chess Federation and tournaments so the reader would understand that there is a large world out there composed of other Chess players.

The week after Ralph retired in May, 2009 he was asked by the Boy Scouts of America to be the chairperson of the committee to write the requirements and booklet for the first Boy Scout Chess Merit Badge.  In September, 2011 there was a gala kickoff celebration for the Boy Scout Chess Merit Badge at the World Chess Hall of Fame in St. Louis.

Several parts of this book are included in the Boy Scout Chess Merit Badge booklet.

In 2017 his nine-year-old granddaughter and seven-year-old grandson wanted to learn Chess, so he made some changes, some additional editing and increased the font size for the current version.
